During weeks 8-10, you will create a little app project of your own design. This app can be a mobile web app or a native app; in addition, it needs to have some cloud functionality (see below). During Week 7, you should be thinking about what your app will be. In fact, thinking about this project is a good way of coming up with a good library, API, feature or tool to write about for your How-To Guide (as explained earlier, above). Week 7 is your chance to plan out the features of your project, so that you can hit the ground running in Week 8. What does a project entail? Your Project will need to include the following: A web service that accepts uploads of structured data files An asynchronous computation that performs an analysis of uploaded data files A native mobile app that enables users to upload data and view results of the analysis One “cool feature” that takes advantage of 1 or more mobile-hardware APIs (e.g., GPS, accelerometer, camera, etc.) as well as 1 or more cloud-based APIs (e.g., image APIs, geolocation, search, etc.), where that feature has been documented in a student How-To You can see that the project doesn’t need to be particularly big or complicated.
