Discussion 5: File Formats Subscribe
To organize and store data or programs on a hard drive, you must install a file system. This is a concept that was briefly covered in Learning Plan 3. There are several different file formats that are commonly found in Windows systems: FAT(16), FAT32, and NTFS. NTFS is the preferred format of Windows 7 based on its features and benefits, but that does not mean that the others are no longer used.
In this discussion, go online and find an article about the differences between FAT and NFTS. Share the article with your classmates and write a brief summary of the article. In your own words, explain how you found this article helpful.
