Assessment Details:
The assessment exercise is to design prove operation and produce the necessary data for manufacture of a high-speed radio identification system. When the lifejacket to which it is attached is wet it should begin transmitting if switched ON.
The system is to transmit the following message:
MAYDAY [2 spaces] EMERGENCY [2 spaces] MAYDAY [Space 5 secs then repeat]
Spaces should be included in the transmission. The data should be transmitted as ASCII code in a parallel manner.

Should switch on only when WET and ON signals are ‘1’.
A transmission frequency of approximately 8 or 4 characters per second depending on speed control input.
Every 40 sec the system should stop transmitting for 10 sec. Energy efficiency is important.
Hardware
The solution should be simulated using the easy8051B development boards programmed in MC51 assembly language using the µVision software.
Assessment Criteria:
You should present a report on the development of your solution with certain key elements
1. Clear description of the methodology you are using to implement the system. A flow chart or Pseudo English description of the way in which you are solving the problem.
2. A clear well documented program which follows a logical process and is based on the solution in Section 1.
3. A clear test strategy should be identified.
4. An evaluation of the design in terms of areas of weakness and possible improvements which could be built in.
The working solution should be demonstrated to the Module Leader.
The assessment will be marked as follows:
Presentation of Report 15%
