Introduction:
Many contemporary organizations and institutions are always introducing new techniques and methodologies in their operations with the main aim of making improvements. With globalization at its peak, competition has increased immensely forcing many organizations to redraft their strategies in order to remain relevant in the world market. One of the methods that that has been adopted by many managers across the globe is System Analysis and Design. Maraca (2006) defines Systems Analysis and Design as the process purposed to examine and evaluate a situation in business in order to improve it using ideal methods and procedures. This paper will look at System Analysis and Design and how it can be used to improve the overall operations of a bank.
Unlike many institutions and organizations which have the autonomy to test and try many designs before selecting the best, banks have to come up with methods that will not only increase their profitability but also improve their relationships with their customers. System Analysis and Design looks at all the subsystems in an organization and then develop a strategy that will meet all the primary goals and improve performance (Shelly, Cashman & Rosenblatt, 2010). A bank consists of complex operations and subsystems that are interlocked and interrelated. According to Maracas (2006), System Analysis provides a paradigm upon which an organization can envisage all the environmental factors affecting its system of operations. One way of introducing new designs is adopting computer technology to help in the synthesis and dissemination of information regarding an organization’s internal and external operations. According to Kendall & Kendall (2007), this does not just improve the quality of information and its relaying but it also brings an achievement feeling among the staff.
