Integrative Project Home Page and Navigation
Now that you have chosen the option you want for your project and the program you want to use to create the website, you can begin deciding what layout you want to use. This week you are going to create the home page for your site and the navigation structure. For the home page, you need to include a 1-2 paragraph introduction to your project. You can write the introduction for the content of the project itself without describing the fact that it is a course project. In other words, you do not need to state that this is a project for a class or what class, university, or major it is for. Write the introduction as if you were creating this project for the appropriate audience instead of for a class assignment. Your introduction should give the viewer an idea of what the purpose of the site is, how they should navigate the site (if there is a specific order in which they should view the pages, or if they can view any page at any time, and any other navigation instructions that you think would be valuable), and what the site will assist them in learning more about.
You also need to set up the navigation on your site. Depending on the program you choose to develop the site, your navigation could be horizontal, vertical, or in some other format that you think would be easy to understand and appropriate for the content. You do not need to have the other pages of the site completed, but you do need to show where the navigation will be and what the titles of each page that the navigation links to will be. The different topics and pages you want to include should be evident from the navigation link titles, however, the specific details of each page do not need to be included for this week’s assignment.
