Overview:
MidlenPart Corporation (MPC) is the manufacturer of generic automobile parts. It is headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. A total of 100 different parts are being manufactured by them for three primary consumer types: Automobile Dealers, Automobile Manufacturers and Automobile Parts supply houses. They have a semi web-based system. It uses a centralized system working inefficiently on an outdated infrastructure. The system is not capable of generating B2B information. There are high chances of entering wrong data by the staff and conveying incorrect information to the customer. Moreover, system cannot give any information as where is the ordered item during a particular period of time. Information is conveyed and received verbally which could again lead to wrong results. The system is not capable of calculating total cost of the order based on different quantities and price. It responds very slowly during the cost estimation period.
Problem:
MidlenPart Corporation (MPC)’s customers are unable to effectively utilize the existing semi-static web system to effectively order products and obtain accurate indication regarding the details of their orders. Placing an order is a very complex process, as it requires customers to dial a customer service number and go through the customer service team for the processing of their orders. MPC as an organization have serious difficulties with the current system when it comes to scaling. They are unable to hit the ground running as quickly as possible in different territories without the need for local personnel with local language skills. In addition, the current infrastructure is old and very slow and as a result, orders take too long to process. This slow nature of the existing infrastructure also has cost implications for maintenance.
