About your How-To Guide The How-To Guide is a very important assignment. To complete this assignment, you must discover one library, API, feature, or tool for mobile web, cloud, or native mobile development. Examples: The mobile web (HTML5) APIs for accessing the user’s camera Tools and techniques for creating awesome mobile app icons Frameworks for creating native mobile app games Libraries and services for displaying in-app advertisements Finding something to write about: How do you find a good library, API, feature or tool that you can write about? The best way is to start making an app, maybe something similar to what you eventually want to do for your project. And then figure out what you need for your app. For example, maybe you want to make an app where people can upload video recordings of lectures—essentially creating an ecampus owned and operated by students, for the benefit of other students. Then you probably will want to learn the API for a video-processing library (such as an API for compressing videos). You might even want to provide your users with a link to some free video recording tools that they can use to record their videos (e.g., on webcam), and this will require you to discover some tools for recording videos. Or maybe you want to create an app for tracking gas mileage. The phone would sit in your car and track how far you drive. Any time the phone’s geolocation matches the geolocation of a gas station, and the geolocation stops changing for more than 5 minutes, then the app would assume you’ve just filled up the tank. Combined with user-specified information about the gas tank capacity, such an app could then compute gas mileage. Such an app would require figuring out how to create a service that continually runs in the background, as well as a library or API for retrieving locations of gas stations. So think about what kind of an app you want to make for your project. And then try to discover a library, API, feature, or tool that you can…
