QUESTION ONE – SELL IT.
Your assignment this week to is write to me as if I am the editor of a newspaper or magazine, and pitch me a travel assignment. Tell me why the location or destination you describe is worth writing about, and why you are the person to do it. Find a unique angle that makes the story compelling and you the natural choice to write it.

QUESTION TWO (DISCUSSION)
Since we don’t have time to travel for this course, this assignment is more in the form of reporting on where you live now. Very few of us live in the place we grew up, so in a sense we are all travelers. Write a few hundred words about something you find strange or idiosyncratic about where you live now. Lets say you are from Africa and now lives in Toronto, Canada. It could be the customs or behaviors of your neighbours, the odd or nonsensical (to you, anyway) way things are organized—everyone has something they find odd about their new place as it compares to where they are from. Make it vivid and entertaining; capture something fresh about the place, not just the usual run-of-the-mill stuff.
