Develop a staff development plan for your service (1200 – 1500 words)
• Rationale – briefly draw on your ideas and discussion of the literature about the role of leadership for staff development as discussed in Part A. Make connections between ideas expressed in Part A, your service philosophy and what you are trying to achieve for staff development in your workplace.
• Individual goal setting – document strengths, growth areas and objectives for a minimum of 2 staff members. Refer to ‘Preparing for the Planning Conference’ template and ‘Goals Blueprint’ template.
• Individual development plans – should flow logically from individual goal setting. Refer to the ‘Staff Development Action Plan’ template. Include a minimum of 2 individual development plans.
• Group goal setting – this will include documentation of reflections, events and/or processes from planning meetings with individual staff and other staff conversations and discussions. Initially this will draw on reflections from planning with individual staff members and draw together common ideas/themes for organizational staff planning.
• Action plan – include objectives, action steps, person responsible, time, resources needed and evaluation checkpoints. You should demonstrate the planning processes in this section. Refer to the ‘Action Plan’ template.
• Evaluation – evaluate the effectiveness of the entire process of staff development planning. While the implementation of the plan will be ongoing, include any comments that relate to building a culture of collaboration and excellence and any creative solutions developed through the staff development plan to date.
Note: Templates for the components of the staff development plan will be provided in the Interact site in Resources. Your plan should draw on the readings and subject content on leadership and staff development throughout the assignment.
