Description of the Task

Groups of students (minimum 2, maximum 4) will select a small business enterprise that requires the development of an E-commerce solution. Students will design a Web site for this enterprise that is consistent with e-Commerce technologies, protocols, and standards.

Web application development tools will be used to implement an e-Commerce site. All facets of an effective e-Commerce solution should be incorporated, including analysis of needs, planning for the site, and documentation of all phases of the development of an e-commerce site. Any available Web design tools may be used. The level of complexity of the site and documentation will contribute to the mark accordingly.

Each group work will be evaluated as follows:

Part 1—A report on the Web site (10 marks total)

The report should consist of the following:

Analysis
Mention the goals of the organization, perhaps include a mission statement if available. Then outline the objectives of the site (promotes brand awareness, provides product / service information, generates sales, etc.).

Who is your target market? Have you considered the accessibility of your site for people with a disability, such as sight impairment?

An analysis of needs should include the business enterprise requirements as well as the customer demand.

List the success criteria of the site (improved sales, more hits, etc)

Development
Details of the development should begin with a logical description (what needs to happen) followed by a physical description (how it will happen).
