Introduction and Student Guide
This assessment item is to be completed individually.
The case study simulates a project management scenario where the student takes on the role of project manager. The case information is not complete so where necessary students will have to make assumptions and/or seek clarification from their tutor/lecturer.

Case Description – Xyzzy University
This assignment is fictional, although parts of it do have some resemblance to systems that that operate within universities.
Background
The Council of the Xyzzy University had a weekend retreat to discuss the future of the University.
As well as members of Council, the audience was widened to include senior executives (including Deans) of the various Faculties. A number of concerns emerged. These included:
1. The curriculum was stretched too much, relevant to the number of students
2. Members of the academic staff needed to widen their international exposure and
3. Academic staff needed to be more involved in research relating to teaching and learning.
After considering these matters, it was decided that the University would expand its number of campuses from one to multiple campuses.
This decision presented many challenges, not the least of which was that the existing Student Record System was not designed to accommodate multi campuses. In fact, it was designed to only handle one campus. This meant that to implement the decision of Council, the Student Record System would need major enhancements.
