Most folks had difficulty completing the Week 4 NCI assignment. Therefore, this week’s assignment is the opportunity to go back and resubmit the assignment. I will provide more help and direction in completing the assignment below.
Firstly, to access the NCI data elements, go to the CDE browser at

Here you will be able to submit a search for specific data elements. Try a search for a common data element such as age. I suggest that you check the box on the left “at least one of the words”.
If you do this you will find that you come up with 323 matches – there is not one way to define and record age! Some of the data elements define age recorded for very specific situations. Looking through the list, I can see one that was defined specifically for recording one of the meaningful Use criteria….which one do you think it is?
If I choose the second data element in the list – Person Reported Age Value – below is the resulting data element. Please explore the site and choose some other common data elements to explore. Please complete and resubmit the NCI assignment in week 4….unless you got it right the first time.
