SIT223 – Information Technology Professional Skills Portfolio Due before 9am on 10 June 2013 Introduction Every unit that you complete has a set of stated goals which are detailed in the Unit Guide. These include aims; learning outcomes; and contributions to graduate attributes. The learning outcomes for SIT223 are: 1. Apply critical thinking and communications skills to solve problems that graduates are likely to encounter in the workplace; 2. Apply appropriate methods to prepare for and participate in a simulated job interview; 3. Apply the principles of group development when participating in team work; 4. Demonstrate the ability to be productive in a dynamic environment; 5. Apply the principles embodied in the ACS codes of ethics and professional practice to understand the ethical behaviours and social responsibility required of IT professionals; 6. Demonstrate the capacity to judge and constructively critique their own and others work. You will see that the unit guide states that “on completion of this unit students will be able to…” all of these outcomes. In other words, to pass this unit you must be able to demonstrate that you have met these outcomes. The portfolio is your opportunity to provide evidence from your learning in this unit that you have achieved each of these learning outcomes, at least at a basic level. The learning activities in this unit are designed to provide you with the opportunity of achieving each of the learning outcomes. When you are completing each activity, you need to think about which learning outcome(s) it is contributing to. Your participation in the activity will provide the evidence you need to demonstrate you have met the learning outcome. Your reflections on the impact that the activity has on your ability to meet the learning outcome provides the evidence for the level at which you have succeeded in doing so.
