Use Map 1 to design the next chapter of your life. This will help you stay in charge of your life whether you are up or down. You will discover how to tap the cycle of change for designing the rest of your lie, to use change as a major resource for your future life designs.
Knowing how to move yourself around the cycle of renewing change is like staying in shape; it empowers you to be at your best at all times, whether you are assuming leadership roles or shedding those roles. Using the magic formula “Hold on, Let go, Take on, Move on,” what do you consider your best choices for composing your life?
Sort out each option of the formula and a typed paper addressing each part of the formula as discussed below:
a. HOLD ON: What is valuable to you and to your connections to the world around you? You want to hold on to those things that are working for you. The older you are the greater your reservoir of experience for finding those gems you hold as extremely valuable. Remember, the first step in this formula is to identify what is valuable to you and your relationships.
b. LET GO: What is not working? or What is worn out? Identify these because they don’t belong in your future. You must let go of what is dysfunctional in your life. You can’t truly take on a new direction until you let go of the excess baggage.
c. TAKE ON: Take on new skills, attitudes, and resources for creating the next chapter of your life. This involves training, new learning, growing, and becoming. (In LEAP you are on the right track.)
d. MOVE ON: Move on is what happens when you hold on, let go, and take on. You will realize the new pathways, the beginnings of a successful future.
