Quality Improvement Proposal
The purpose of this exercise is to create a proposal for an improvement project utilizing the knowledge and competencies from this course. All submissions are to be typed in APA format utilizing 12 font and 1” margins. Citations should be properly referenced. Tables or graphics should be submitted as attachments and do not count towards minimum page requirements. ( should be no more than 6 typewritten pages excluding attachments. You should submit each with a title page and clearly identify each of the required content areas using the sub-headings in bold.
Proposal Part 1 (Quality Problem Statement
1. Topic/Problem – please describe a topic of concern to quality and/or safety to be addressed in a proposal for an improvement project. The topic may be from the course, from your professional work experience or any other source. It can be one that affects one unit, an organization or is global. The problem should be specific enough to generate a plan for improvement. (25%)
2. Background & Significance – summarize what is known about the topic and why it is important to quality / safety and healthcare. Include available data and statistics on the scope of the problem. You may use local or fictitious data as well as data found in the literature on the topic. (35%)
3. Dimension(s) of Quality – concisely describe which dimension(s) of quality will be targeted in this improvement project. (15%)
4. Organizational Readiness – assess each of the 5 criteria that predict the success of an improvement project using the 5 criteria found in the article by Lukas, et al (2007) posted in Unit 1 – Transformational Change in Healthcare Systems. (25%)
