REA Modeling Problem for Game Day
Concessions
Game Day Concessions sells a complete line of food and supplies
to organizations that operate concession stands at sporting events,
concerts, and festivals throughout the metropolitan area.
Customers must open an account before they can place an order.
Customers who have established a line of credit must call their
order in at least 24 hours before they want to pick it up. The
sales clerk enters information into the sales order system, which
checks availability of inventory, verifies customer credit, and
issues an order number that is given to the customer before they
hang up. The system also prints a two-copy picking ticket, which is
sent to the warehouse so the order can be prepared.
When customers come in for pick up, they tell the warehouse
clerk their order number, the order package is retrieved, the
customer inspects the goods, and signs the picking ticket. One copy
of the signed picking ticket is given to the customer and the other
is sent to accounting.
The accounting clerk enters the order number into the system and
indicates the order has been picked up. The system prepares a
monthly bill that is mailed to each customer. The accounting clerk
matches customer payments to invoices and deposits the cash into
one of the company’s two bank accounts.
Food and supplies inventory is usually ordered on a weekly
basis. The purchasing clerk counts stock on hand and enters these
amounts into the purchase order system. The system prepares a
purchase order for vendors with which the company has an
established account. Each purchase order is assigned a unique P/O
number. One copy of the purchase order is sent to the warehouse and
another copy is sent to accounting.
When shipments arrive the receiving clerk pulls copies of the
purchase orders, inspects and counts all goods in the shipment,
then enters all quantities into the system. The shipments
occasionally include items from more than one purchase order,
When vendor invoices are received, the accounting clerk verifies
that all goods on the invoice have been received, checks the math
on the invoice, and then enters the invoice information into the
system. Once a month the system prints checks for all goods that
have been received but not yet paid for. None of the company’s
vendors accept installment sales; all invoices must be paid in full
at the end of the month.
