In theory, when two species compete for exactly the same range of resources (i.e., have the same niche), _____should occur a. Predation b. Mutualism c. Character displacement d. Stable coexistences e. Competitive exclusion A change in the behavior/performance of one species as a result of removal of its competitor is termed a. Predation b. Competitive release c. Character displacement d. Stable coexistences e. Competitive exclusion In the region where both species co-occur the northern snuffle has a relatively wide and short snuffle whereas the southern snuffle has a long and relatively thin snuffle. In areas where they occur alone the morphology of their snuffle is fairly similar. This observation demonstrates what? a. The competitive exclusion principle b. Character displacement c. Un stable coexistence d. Competitive release e. Mechanism of coexistence Disturbance mediated coexistence represents what type of coexistence mechanism a. Equilibrium mechanisms b. Non-equilibrium mechanisms c. Both d. None ____is a species that is able to coexist with a competitively superior species in an un-stable environment due to its better dispersal and recruitment capabilities. a. A predator b. A dominant species c. A fugitive species d. A K-selected species e. A subordinate species Individuals of one species prevent those of another species access to a common resource. This type of interaction is called: a. Mutualism b. Predation c. Exploitation competition d. Interference competition e. Pre-emptive competition
