Nervous cells
1. Describe the structural and functional characteristics of
neurons: a. Describe the basic structure of a multipolar neuron
with the following components: dendrites, cell body, axon, axon
terminals, myelin. Link the neuron components above to neuron
functional polarity in terms of the direction of message
transmission involving propagation of the neuron’s nervous impulse
(electrical signal, electrical message) and release of the chemical
neurotransmitter signal. Describe (general description) the benefit
of myelin sheaths and nodes (of Ranvier).
