Hi Steve
I have kept reminding everyone not to use IDE and
the disadvantages of using it in the class as otherwise won’t be able
to compile it because of packages inside them. Kindly upload fresh
version of it and if i encounter future submission has packages or IDE
used, it won’t be graded.
Thanks.
Week 5 Hand-in Assignment
Answer the following questions by the end of the cycle Wednesday night and place the response in the assignment folder. You should use the text, discussion (things you and your peers have said or uncovered that help you solve the problems) and/or other resources to formulate your answers – just remember not to directly discuss these questions until after I have posted the answers next week. At that time, in the main folder for seminar 6, you may ask any lingering questions about the assignment for this week that you would like.
I would prefer it if you attach a Word or .java file with your coding answer to your assignment post rather than embedding the code in the message – attaching the Word or .java files make it much easier for me to check your code for any problems you may have encountered.
Problem
By day 7 of this week, post your solution to the following problem in the assignments folder. Post whatever you have completed, even if it is not working.
Background
Write a program that computes the annual road tax (vehicle excise duty) charges for three types of vehicles: vans, cars and motorcycles.
The road tax rate is calculated as follows for each type of vehicle:
Vans Light goods vehicles weighing less than 3500kg are charged at 165 GBP (British Pounds); otherwise they are charged at 190 GBP.
Cars All cars registered on or before 1 March 2001 are charged according to their engine size (in cc). A car with an engine size of less than or equal to 1550cc is charged at 110 GBP; otherwise it is charged at 165 GBP.
If the date of car’s registration is after 1 March 2001, the annual road tax charge is calculated according to the CO2 emission of the vehicle. The table below displays the different road tax charges for this criterion. (Hint: see the API documentation for the Date and DateFormat class)
